Housing Information

Where will I live?

You can choose your type of room (single or double). The costs for a Single (Room made for one person) is $29.38/night or you may choose a Double (Room made for two) with two students occupying the room at $27.75/night. At the suggestion of students, all rooms have a sink, which gives you greater privacy as well as greater freedom in the morning when you are hurrying to get to class.

At You may apply for housing here. You may click here to get more information about room sizes and accommodations for this popular living community.

The Olympia Avenue residence hall received a LEED™ Silver rating while maintaining WSU's distinctive materials palette. Several innovative “green” strategies are incorporated including geothermal heating and cooling, natural day lighting, sun shading devices to minimize heat load, site restoration with natural habitat and vegetation, water efficient landscaping, stormwater collection and reuse for irrigation, high reflective roof to reduce heat island effect, reduction of light pollution, educational signage system, water-use reduction in the building, construction waste management, use of regional materials, recycled materials and certified wood where possible.

The ground floor contains a central two-story lounge with a gas fireplace, the main entrance, classroom, meeting room and media center and other public functions designed to encourage student interaction. These spaces open to a large outdoor plaza on the west side and gardens to the east that showcase native Palouse vegetation. Every floor is equipped with a central “active” lounge focused on the main plaza below, as well as a “passive” study lounge facing exterior views of the surrounding area.

In addition to the main floor lounge Olympia Avenue offers lounges on each floor. There are two study lounges per floor. One is a quiet lounge for studying while the other is an active lounge that offers a kitchenette, recycling space and a TV. The floor laundry facilities are also accessed from this lounge. Laundry is free. The "active" lounge features beautiful views of the Palouse from its floor to ceiling windows. This is a great place to hang out with friends or to have small group meetings.

In addition to the three wired data ports available to each Olympia Avenue resident in their room, the building will feature state of the art (802.11n) wireless internet access in all areas (private and public) of the building. Bring your networked devices; we have a way to connect them all! Look here for system requirements.

The Olympia Avenue residence hall will deliver TV programming using the latest in Video over IP multicasting technology. Residents will be able to view their favorite programming (we have over 50 channels available) right on their laptop or computer! Residents can also use a PC as a tuner to deliver TV programming to any TV. The online viewer enables all Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris 10 users to watch video with the simple click of a button. There's nothing to install or download - the viewer runs in your computers memory space, never writes anything to your hard drive and completely disappears when you're done watching.

All students will have an extra long twin bed (36" by 80 with deep pockets), desk with a mobile pedestal file, 3 drawer stacking dressers, closet, and IP for TV available to them in their rooms. Look here for floor plans. The IP and Ethernet services are included in your housing payment. You will find links to the current channel listing, a programming guide, connection instructions and other useful information here: Cable FAQ.

Resident Hall Staff

Residence halls are staffed by undergraduate resident advisors at an approximate staff ratio of 20:1. Resident advisors are available to offer support and guidance based on their own experiences as students at Washington State University. They will assist you in becoming familiar with campus and will encourage you to learn the most effective techniques for academic achievement through time management, study skills, and leadership workshops that are provided through the program. Resident advisors will keep participants advised of campus activities, intramural opportunities, and club organization to participate in during your free time.
